The surface of the Wind Vase evokes images of linen billowing in the wind, with undulating ripples and creases that run the height of the form, organic and unevenly gathered, made permanent in clay. It is a visual grammar that human hands, given clay and creative freedom, begin to find similarities in form. The Wind Vase emerged from that process: shaped directly by hand, guided by sensation and instinct, rather than by technical intent.
The original version was made entirely by the fingers and palms of Ruben Costa, and every mark from that has been carried faithfully into the production edition through careful mould casting. While it is no longer individually hand-shaped, it continues to hold the original sculptor's touch.
In a room, the Wind Vase is noticed immediately. Place it in a spot with changing natural light, so that every ridge and crease can be appreciated slowly, over time.
