Turned wood objects tend to be symmetrical in form and often utilitarian in function, but they can also be philosophical and poetic. Using carved voids, the idea was to disrupt the symmetrical beauty of turned wood forms, giving birth to new and unexpected compositions. The outcome is a study of positive and negative space. Each Void Sculpture has a gently concave surface to serve as a pedestal for displaying our most precious small items. A one-off piece in walnut wood as part of a materials exploration process, this tabletop sculpture benefits from the beautiful grains and warm tones of this choice of wood.
