The Weaver’s Stool came about when Gabriel Tan met Maria Adelina, a weaver in her sixties and the last known one in Paços Ferreira, a furniture-producing town in Portugal. Gabriel’s design fully showcases her craft – this stretcher-less stool construction highlights the woven paper cord surface and gives it paramount attention. This special edition stool combines a walnut frame with bespoke black paper cord weaving. In the final product conceived by the designer, smoked ash wood was the chosen wood material to pair with the black paper cord, hence this walnut wood version exists as a one-off piece.
