With a father who is passionate about painting, Joaquim Pombal grew up with the same interest which fostered the enjoyment in discovering different combinations of minerals and metals to achieve unique paint and glaze outcomes. Established since 1985, Joaquim’s studio is one of the largest dedicated to handmade ceramics and painting in Portugal. A deeply passionate, involved and charismatic individual, Joaquim pushes boundaries by investigating with his materials daily, exploring and manipulating them in unconventional ways, seeking both beauty and knowledge in the unexpected.
