Designed by Silje Nesdal | Handcrafted by Carlos Barbosa and Manuela Coelho
Designed by Norwegian designer Silje Nesdal, the Veil Cabinets showcase her background in textiles and furniture design, as well as the influences of her experiences living in both Norway and Japan. Veil Cabinets come in two variations, a taller more statuesque form, and a lower more elongated option. These shelving cabinets use natural linen sheets as doors, referencing Japanese Noren curtains. The linen textile hand-sewn by an embroiderer gives the wooden cabinets a softness and lightness which makes them distinctive yet understated pieces. With adjustable shelves, the cabinets fit seamlessly in any space and create a sense of intrigue, allowing glimpses of objects stored ‘hidden’ behind the ‘veil’ while maintaining a tasteful level of privacy. The taller cabinet functions well to hold a collection of treasured objects, while the longer lower Veil Cabinet can act as a media console as well as a storage unit for personal belongings or valuable collectibles.
